Completed research projects on tourism
CEMAT's research on tourism represents the perspectives of economic geography and international business at the Aalto University School of Economics. The research is closely linked to the collaborations with our stakeholders. Cooperation with the City of Helsinki has produced a series of research on the changes of Helsinki metropolitan area and Finland's position in the politico-geographical transition (research series on Gateway-tourism). Our long-term cooperation with the Finnish University Network for Tourism Studies (FUNTS) and the Ministry of Employment and the Economy (MEE) has produced a ground-breaking report on the state of tourism research in Finland. In addition, CEMAT has been involved in innovation of Aalto University’s education and its investments to FUNTS's curriculum. Our on-going research on tourism focuses on the attractiveness of the Baltic Sea Region during off-season times as well as the exploitation of the attractiveness of its marine sites in order to attract tourists.
